Northern Ireland farmer, Tony Bell, has won a prestigious Syngenta Farm Sprayer Operator of the Year Award 2015. Farming at Kircubbin, Newtownards in County Down, Tony demonstrated his high levels of skills and practical knowledge of safe and effective spraying techniques.

Farming his own 40-hectares of cropping, along with contract spraying an area of 4200 hectares a year, Tony has continued to hone his experience over the past 27 years. He was praised for his latest adoption smart phone and tablet technology to capture and record data and field mapping information for himself and customers. Presenting the Awards at the International Sprays & Sprayers Event, Syngenta Application Specialist, Ben Magri, said: “The FSOOTY Awards judge all aspects of farm spraying to identify the very best operators across the UK, and to share their understanding and expertise.

“Tony has shown outstanding skills and works to very high standards to achieve the best possible results. He has proved a worthy winner by demonstrating that best practice can deliver efficient, cost effective and, above all, safe crop spraying. Syngenta recognises that the skills of the sprayer operator are paramount in achieving the full potential from all our crop protection products,” he added.
